
Booking Deals in Roger
Overview
Roger is revolutionizing the dry-bulk shipping industry by introducing digital solutions for deal negotiations, payments, and more. Their platform allows users to view active loads and available capacity, facilitating the bidding process, offer acceptance, and informed decision-making for carriers and shippers. This project specifically aims to enhance the effectiveness of booking and managing these deals.
My Role
While working at Bushel, Roger was one of our clients. I was the lead designer for all three of Roger's platforms: OnRamp, Deals, and Hauls. I collaborated with the project manager, business leadership, and developers to ensure my designs met business objectives. I held three working sessions a week with the business to present designs and make any necessary changes. I also set up meetings with developers to review their work and vice versa.
Goals
Enhance the primary dashboard to improve booking opportunities.
Improve search functionality by adding filters and the ability to search in new areas.
Implement screens that allow users to view a single opportunity with chat, offer, and notes functionality.
Enhanced map view that includes routes that users can filter deals by date and price.
Discovery
During the discovery phase of redesigning the Book Deals feature at Roger, we started by talking to shippers, carriers, and drivers to learn about their current booking experiences. Through research and testing, we found several issues with the existing platform. These included problems with finding deals, a lack of communication and negotiation features, and not being able to see shipment status. We gathered valuable feedback from users and support tickets to help with the redesign.
Solution
To address the issues identified during the discovery phase, a comprehensive redesign of the Book Deals feature at Roger was implemented. The solution focused on enhancing the user experience, improving search functionality, implementing single opportunity screens for detailed viewing and communication, and enhancing the map view feature. These enhancements significantly improved the user experience, efficiency in finding and booking deals, and communication and negotiation capabilities.
Conclusion & Impact
The comprehensive redesign of the Book Deals feature at Roger has greatly improved the user experience and efficiency in finding and booking deals in the dry-bulk shipping industry. The enhanced primary dashboard, filters, and expanded search functionality provide better visibility and informed decision-making. The implementation of screens for communication and negotiation, along with the enhanced map view feature, has facilitated successful negotiations and improved the overall user experience. These improvements have helped carriers and shippers increase profit margins and solidify Roger's position as a leader in the industry.
